Different Types of Wells Water Pumps
Shallow well pumps use a jet pump to operate. The jet pump can be mounted above the well either in a person’s home or in the well house. The pump will draw up water through a suction created by the pump. A jet pump has an electric motor that drives the pump to create a partial vacuum and move the water.
In a case where you need to dig deeper to get water, a submersible pump is inserted into a well that is deep in the ground. A submersible pump is placed in a long tube and fitted in a well casting. It is then sealed in a compartment that is connected by wires to a power source. The power source pushes the water up. Because a submersible pump is located deep in the ground, under water and somewhat inaccessible, these type of well water pumps are more difficult to repair. Luckily, submersible pumps are made to last 20 years without needing repairs.
